Malcolm Clark of Santa Maria named Elks district leader

Malcolm Clark, of Santa Maria Elks Lodge No 1538, was installed s the new leader of the West Coast District of the California Elks Association, when members of the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks from across the nation gathered July 9 through 13 in Orlando, FLA for the organization´s 142nd Grand Lodge Convention.

In addition to helping set the course of the Elks in the coming year, District Deputy Clark also learned of the order´s national accomplishments.

Last year, the 1.12 million members of the Elks made charitable contributions totaling more than $200 million (cash and in-kind), which went to support scholarships and educational grants, drug awareness and education programs, and to the nation´s veterans, youth and the Elks state associations´ major projects, which provide funding for everything from cancer treatment and research to shelter for the victims of domestic violence.

As the Elks national representative for the area, Clark will now be responsible for working with local Elks Lodge to fulfill the order´s longstanding commitment to promote charity and patriotism in the communities,’ according to a July 14 press release from the organization.

In the position of District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Clark will advise Lodges on internal and business matters, review how national policy is implemented by the Lodges in the district, and help coordinate and supervise Elks activities on many levels.
