On Memorial Day, May 29, 2006, a number of Touring Elks assembled at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge parking lot. At 12:20pm the group departed, riding in parade formation through local streets to pay their respects at the Santa Maria Cemetery Veterans Memorial area. After a brief stop to say a prayer for our departed Veterans, we continued on toward the Elks Rodeo Grounds. The lodge Memorial Day service was scheduled for 1pm & the group rode into the grounds & parked the bikes by the Elks Veterans Memorial area. All participated in the moving ceremony honoring our fallen warriors & remembering those that have yet to return home, with a POW-MIA Missing Man Table Ceremony. Remember to thank those currently serving, those who have served & also remember, Freedom isn't Free!
