The April campout was held at San Lorenzo RV Park in King City. After several weeks of cold and rainy weather, twenty-one rigs attended and welcomed the nearly perfect weather. Bucky and Annie Swetkovich and Gail and Scott Bryars were the Trail Bosses for the weekend. Those who were there on Thursday enjoyed a perfect day. Friday threatened us with rain but managed to stave off until Bucky finished with the fire for our potluck dinner.

Saturday morning we woke up to a glorious and busy day. Some of us took walks and enjoyed the gardens, fish ponds and all the farm equipment exhibits. Others headed off with Harvey Lobo to the local golf course. Bob "Mulligan" Lopez was the winner of the tournament. Carol Adams signed up players for a cribbage tournament that carried throughout the weekend. About ten players signed up and Marilyn Martinez was the winner.

Saturday Brunch, meeting and raffle was held out on the patio. Larry and Joanne Bowman and Jeannie and Harvey Lobo were our Champagne hosts. Dolores Orvis surprised Bill Orvis with a German chocolate cake for his 88th Birthday. At the meeting, Van Diaz presented me with the hat that was given to him when he became Wagonmaster. The red and white two bill hat has the words "I'm Their Leader, Which Way Did They Go?" I will wear it proudly, Van. After our meeting Jack Culley drew the winning raffle tickets for the terrific gifts presented by Vicki Martinez.

Saturday evening the Trail Bosses served us "all beef" hot dogs, buns, Boston baked beans, sauerkraut, chili, chips, relish and chocolate pudding. As I am originally from the Boston area, it is one of my favorite meals and I really enjoyed it, as did all. Great job Trail Bosses as well as a great weekend. Audrey Mussel was to do the entertainment but due to a major water leak in her home she was unable to come to the campout. Jack Culley filled in with card bingo. Several games were played and Annie Swetkovich with her seven-dollar winnings in the first game was the big winner. Following Bingo, card games ensued. All the players were treated to the special popcorn served by Bucky.

Sunday morning Stan Voris served us with Hotcakes, sausage, coffee and juice. As all campers know the motto of a camper is "You always leave your camping area better than you found it," so with that in mind thanks go to Chuck Phillips, Rudy Garcia, Norm Burke, Bob and Marilee Lopez and Harvey and Jeannie Lobo for Saturday evening's cleanup. Thanks also go to Sunday morning's crew Larry and Joanne Bowman, Dean Scott and Sandy Doran, Win Campbell and any others who may have helped throughout the weekend. A special thanks to Jack Culley who mopped a very large floor.

Dick Kenney, Wagonmaster
