The July campout was held at the Oceano Elks Lodge in Oceano. Twenty-seven rigs rolled in between Thursday and Friday and enjoyed the unusual warm beach weather.

Friday afternoon Hand and Foot was the order of business for many campers. Others chose to sit out and enjoy the lovely afternoon weather while enjoying Rick Ortega's strawberry Pina Coladas. Thank you Rick, they were great. Friday evening's dinner was planned to be a Fish & Chip dinner in the lodge. Because of a change in menu, unknown to us, there was no fish dinner. Some campers chose to have the Fettuccini being served by the lodge and others headed to various restaurants in Pismo. Following dinner there were the usual card games and a campfire for those who wanted to sit out and enjoy the evening. A special treat for those sitting out was the sighting of the Discovery Space Shuttle passing overhead.

Saturday morning after rolls and coffee our usual golfers headed to the golf course where Jack Cully was the winner. At noon the parking lot was the scene of our Champagne lunch. Champagne Hosts were Bob and Marilee Lopez celebrating Marilee's birthday along with myself and Betty celebrating our 52nd wedding anniversary. Many Traveleers who were not able to camp came and enjoyed the delicious lunch. Following lunch our meeting was held. Thanks went to Liz and Jack Cully and Barbara and Van Diaz our Trail Bosses for this campout. Bob Lopez briefed us on the status of the trailer purchase. It looks like it won't be long until the trailer is a reality. Harvey Lobo gave a report on our successful Rodeo Campout. He stated that the rec club is still compiling the figures. The committee he said decided that the camp fee next year will be increased to $140. In addition he requested that the funds be spent to make a permanent stage for the Rodeo grounds. A motion went up, seconded and put up for a vote with all in favor. Gordon Chambers, rodeo treasurer, gave a report on the tent operations. Guests were Liz and Jack Cully's granddaughter Kate from Texas and Gloria and Richard Dent who also signed up as new members. After the meeting Theresa Rameriz and Jeanie Lobo presented the raffle provided by Carol Adams.

Saturday evening dinner was in the Oceano Elks Lodge. The lodge prepared and served us a delicious steak or chicken dinner with an excellent salad and baked potato along with an apple and ice cream desert. It was presented with flowers and lovely table settings in blue and white. After dinner we all participated in a big campfire and were entertained with song and guitar by BJ Okie from the Oceano Elks Lodge.

Sunday morning we were treated to delicious breakfast burritos and fresh fruit presented by Liz and Jack Cully and Barbara and Van Diaz. Great job Trail Bosses. Following breakfast everyone pitched in to clean up.

The September Campout will be at Pacific Dunes September 15, 16, 17.
