The September campout was held at Pacific Dunes RV Park September 15, 16, 17. Twenty-six rigs attended one of the best campouts this year. Several campers came in on Thursday to rather cool and damp weather but that changed for the better on Friday and to spectacular on Saturday.
Friday evening everyone attended the potluck dinner which seemed to be tastier than usual. Hand & Foot was the evening activity with many of the players playing until 1:30 am Saturday.
Saturday started with coffee and Mexican pastries for breakfast. Rudy Garcia (Key Man) and the golfers then headed to the local golf course. Finding their T off time cancelled they headed to Santa Maria to play. Tom Dutart, Jim Chapman and Larry Bowman were the winners of the tournament. At noon, the champagne hosts were Don & Corinne Hathaway celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary, Stan & Eldean Voris their 57th, Theresa Ramirez celebrating her 60th birthday and Eldean Voris celebrating her 75th birthday. Mike and Diana Goshay treated us to a cake celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. Following lunch our meeting was held. A motion was presented to eliminate the raffle. After discussion and a second motion to add a 50/50 drawing the group voted to continue the raffle and to add the 50/50 drawing. Larry Bowman read a letter from the Exalted Ruler, Bill Hamblin, requesting Traveleers help with the expense of repairing the dining room ceiling in the Lodge. A motion was presented, seconded and the group voted to donate $1000 to the ceiling project.
Saturday evening Trail bosses Vicky and Rudy Martinez/Garcia, Jim and Annette Chapman, Elva Torres and Cheryl Teshara treated us to a Mexican Fiesta. What a Fiesta it was! The dining room was decorated with a real Mexican flare. The room was alive with piñatas, the serving table was dressed with sarapes, and the tables were decorated with white table clothes, Mexican pots and flowers. It was a colorful and delightful sight. A dinner of enchiladas, chili verde, beans and rice and salad along with rainbow sherbet for desert was served to the campers eliciting expressions throughout the room of "WOW" and "WHAT A PARTY". A special thank you goes to Elva Torres' brother, Raul Birch, who donated the tortillas and chips. Following dinner Jeanie Lobo presented a game of Bingo with Larry Bowman calling the numbers. Audrey Mussell, Cheryl Teshara and Don Hathaway were the winners. A drawing was held for a $50.00 gift certificate donated by Antonio's Restaurant in Nipomo. Don Hathaway was again a winner. It must have been his lucky day. The evening ended with Hand & Foot games for a few or a quiet evening in the rig for others.
Sunday morning our Trail Bosses outdid themselves again with a colorful and delicious breakfast.
We were served egg casserole along with fresh fruit kabobs with strawberries, cantaloupe, watermelon and grapes placed on skewered sticks and inserted into upside-down watermelon halves.
A cribbage tournament was again held throughout the weekend and Jeannie Lobo was the winner.
